Lars’ mother, Shirley Tetens, always had a passion for culinary adventures. In the 1950’s she avidly developed new recipes with new exotic combinations of flavors and textures. Lars started cooking at only five years old and subsequently, Shirley started training him to be a disciple of new delights she found along her path of culinary exploration.
Shirley also had a love for chocolate. In 1972, at the age of 8, Lars started to work on creating his own chocolates and truffles, using the disciplines his mother had instilled in him. He combined the sumptuous, exotic spices and flavors of the East, the traditional, old-world art of the French chocolatier, and the heat of South American spices to create new kinds of indulgent confections which were previously unknown.
Over thirty years ago, Lars created his one-of-a-kind unique chocolates and chocolate truffles for the enjoyment of those discerning palates with the wherewithal to consume these exotic treats. To this day, Lars carries on the disciplines his mother taught him in his childhood to serve this rare and exotic market.
